Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been a reporter for over 45 years focusing on the suffering of people in conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry has covered the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist, television news reporter and anchor who was most well-known for her role as a correspondent on the Today program, which was a morning news program aired on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was well-known for her coverage of human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry is the daughter of an U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents began to meet when her father served in Japan. Her father was in the military and her family had to move around often. They finally moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. Curry graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in the University of Oregon. The exposure she received to a variety of cultures and experiences during her growing up years is likely to have influenced the compassion in her approach to international topics. They moved frequently, so Curry didn't stay in one place for more than two years, and she traveled to different places including San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. She finally graduated from Ashland the high school. She paved her way for an enviable career after she began her career in broadcasting by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first news reporter female in the station's history at the aged of just 22. Then, she stepped on to become an anchor reporter and anchor for KGW KGW, which was an NBC affiliate station in Portland. Then she returned to Los Angeles four years later to work as a reporter for KCBS TV. The two Emmy Awards were won during her time with KCBS-TV.
